Russell M. Nelson said regarding example: “In the final analysis, the quality of our lives is a convincing invitation for our neighbors and friends not of our faith to inquire about the Church. I have always felt that this is a much more solid base on which to work, rather than slogans or clever gimmicks.
On one occasion many years ago, a nurse with whom I was working in our medical responsibilities asked me at the close of surgery one day if I would tell her what we believe as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I told her I would be happy to help her gain that understanding. To make a long story short, I ultimately baptized her. But it is interesting that the conversation process had already been well started because, as she put it, she liked the way I conducted my life. Now many years later, her son, who was just a small boy when she was baptized, has served a mission to Australia, where he baptized a large number of people. I really don’t know how many people might ultimately join the church because of her conversion.
Someone once said, “What you are speaks so loudly that I can hardly hear what you say.” That applies to our conduct in our individual neighborhoods and in our occupations. For people to know that we live a Christ-centered life and that we belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is step number one. Personal note from Kent… The very ‘mortal’ side of me would shy away from posting this since I have a ways to go in the day to day, one on one, practical application of the above. But… ‘my hypocrisy’ is my reason to make sure such entries ARE posted. . . If I am ‘not there’, so others are not and likely need a nudge too!
