Family members who accept the Atonement of Jesus Christ and follow His example can be together forever through sacred ordinances performed in God’s holy temples. Jesus gave to Peter the power to have things sealed on earth and sealed in heaven (Matthew 16:19). This same sealing power was restored to Joseph Smith and Mormons believe that they can be so “sealed” or bound together forever.

Many struggle to have family relationships they would be happy with in the eternities. Life… family life was never intended by Heavenly Father to be without challenges. At times, when chaos prevails in the home and relationships are strained, escape seems a viable alternative, but that is clearly not God’s solution. Because God has ordained that families are the place for children to be loved, grow and learn correct principles, He has also provided much excellent instruction on how families, including just husband and wife, can do that and do it well. It’s not easy and takes time and patience. We put God first through sincere prayer, scripture study, attention to instruction from inspired leaders and more. Also putting others ahead of self and distractions brings instant positive feelings and harmony into any home. Apologies including willingness to change are also essential.

A Mormon leader, Elder Boyd K. Packer said; “The ultimate end of all activity in the Church is that a man and his wife and their children are happy at home, sealed together for time and for all eternity.”  Focusing on priceless instruction and counsel from inspired leaders and really living the religion so taught (often including lots of prayer) will bring family into that sweet association where they want to associate with one another in the eternities beyond this life.

This personal post above is one of many on Mormon.org authored with the Lord’s guidance. The idea being that we can share Gospel truths with others who don’t know or have forgotten them. Sister Sharon Eubank, First Counselor in the General Relief Society Presidency spoke September 23, 2017 of us all learning to ‘articulate’ gospel teachings to anyone interested in a way that provides clarity to the LDS position. (see ‘Turn On Your Light’).  Each post will be numbered and, as with this format, will include the Church position and my own thoughts. (k)
