6 Therefore go, my son, and thou shalt be favored of the Lord, because thou hast not murmured. 7 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.1 Nephi 3:6-7
This is a great lesson to me of how to hear answers that come from the Lord. Nephi’s ready / committed approach, doing without murmuring teaches me how to have the Lord’s blessing and approval in my concerns. Again I learn the approach I must have in order that personal revelation may continue… and I’ll increase in revelation going forward. There’s no room for complaining, when my spirit is so schooled. At times, I may not like what the Spirit says and resistance immediately ends His influence. I certainly should seek His counsel on how to do what He reveals. When I am persistent with a vulnerable approach, answers WILL come, though often not in my mortal timing. Patience may also need to be ‘schooled’ into my otherwise impatient nature. The ‘for now’ answer my be, “Wait”. Some answers may come only after years, even decades of waiting. This may happen because I have yet to develop life experiences to where I would fully understand / appreciate what the Lord teaches. kdm
