“The way to be nothing is to do nothing.” ~Nathaniel Howe
The Lord expects me to be useful in my sojourn here. Downtime, R&R, vacation, doing my own thing, socializing, and hobbies as important as they are, should not become my ‘sum total’ of life to the defeat of my real, God given purposes and potential. When I involve myself in blessing ‘fellow travelers’, I grow in God’s reasons for my existence. I become more what He wanted of (and for) me.
When I create nothing of myself preoccupied in ‘go with the flow, have fun genre’ … I am damned (my progression like water stopped by an earthen dam, has ended). D&C 58:27 ‘Men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;’ (continued in this link… anxiously engaged D&C 58:27-29 ) Happy is the person who loses himself in service to others (spouse and children becoming a priority). kdm 3.28.17
