Incidents over many months have at times, left me reeling; wondering what lessons I need to learn from the intended, the expected… and more so unexpected events. In the end the self evaluation leaves reeling at where I could be were I to have changed a few habits and become more anxiously engaged, more willing to forget myself into service of those around me; to do the harder rather than the convenient thing.
I am reminded of something I used to teach young men; that choices made early should always consider long range implications. Choosing the harder more time consuming upward path now, rather than the easiest or more convenient way of the moment, lead and secure a future much more useful to self and others. The easiest way of the moment seldom, even never, has long term growth that includes a healthy life perspective and service to others; and in turn becomes real happiness.
