A seeker of Christ’s influence, I know when he withdraws. Some feel it normal to only have Christ’s strong influence occasionally, perhaps only in the church setting or in daily prayer. As rough as this world is becoming, that’s no longer enough, not near enough for me. Proactively seeking Him, he’s ready and willing to guide me ‘all the day long’ in choices, environments that are difficult and affect my relationship with him. Such an effort on my part opens doors where He can increase understanding, purpose and discipline and thus protection from the adversary. I become increasingly filled with His light and feel power and protection from the darkness of this world. Through his ‘knocking at my door’ (Rev 3:20) and by my striving to stay vulnerable, He ‘enters in’ and teaches me patience and discipline… waiting on his timetable for answers. Meanwhile, those earnest prayers, and other ‘spiritual homework’ (scripture study, attending my meetings where others of like mind congregate… and more), cause me to become closer to him… weak things in me become stronger when I patiently wait upon His time table, and find ways to shut out the adversary’s influence. kdm (revised and republished from June 17, 2015)
