Daily, I feel light from God, in spite of my weaknesses. I make efforts to overcome, striving to carry a repentant vulnerable attitude and not to ‘beat myself up’ following my mistakes, but to repent, make amends, and quickly press forward. In this way, I constantly embrace a more spiritually upbeat path and purpose. ‘Saving’ those mistakes for later in the day or week to repent keeps the Spirit away. It is clear the Lord does not want me to increase ‘my baggage’ (wallow in the mire?) over hours and days, but rid myself of it as quickly as possible and live in the moment for Him, rather than in past mistakes.
So… having made a mistake, I look for the closest opportunity to take a moment, repent / make myself right with God and move forward away from the dark feelings that the adversary would try to ‘lock’ in my mind. This relates to the every day indiscretions. Should something ‘big’ come along, much more ‘knee work’ will be needed. Until that time, I do as said above with the promise of further counsel with Him later.
Weekly partaking of the Sacrament is an essential element in keeping my approach right before the Lord. Deliberately missing / making light of that opportunity, decreases His power within me to overcome in more permanent ways.
(For something ‘really big’, it’s best to visit with the Bishop as soon as possible. Not doing so subjects us to Satan’s buffetings and plays into his single purpose of defeat, defeat, defeat. We will quickly become overwhelmed.) kdm
