“I believe Mormons and Catholics have something unusual in common — guilt…. We think we should be doing everything — all the time — by our own genius and strength.

Instead of guilt, let us feel gratitude – gratitude for this earthly experience…, for the humility it generates and for the power it is building within us. More than anything else, let us be grateful for the fact — the rock-solid fact — that when we obey Christ’s voice, He lovingly empowers us to climb to the next safe (level) with legs that are no longer weary. This is when the fatigue dissipates, and the journey no longer feels too long and hard. This is how we arrive at the top, renewed and reborn.

When was the last time you were carried safely in the arms of Christ’s love? What say you?” ~ John Pontius, ‘In the Arms of Christ’s Love’ from his book ‘Journey to the Veil’, p.121

I personally feel, through readings and many experiences, I’m in a place of ‘enjoying the journey’ so much more because my primary feeling/focus is gratitude; knowing He love’s me anyway and is not concerned with what is not happening in my life (that I think should, or would otherwise feel guilty about). My progress seems incremental… but it is progress. I love life so much more because I accept this and myself as, I believe, He does. I don’t believe He would want me to stress over the details of what is not happening, but be glad for what is. kdm
