In our ‘buying into’ what each of the above three writers try to protect us from (that the negatives of our past will never go away), we give over our agency to the adversary! Our energy for the Lord’s purposes, and our growth towards Him, becomes greatly diminished. Take the middle statement by the unknown author… not only must we forgive others but (upon our repenting) we must forgive our-self, opening in our mind ‘free space’ for the Lord to bless us with better habits and purpose. Holding onto our mistakes and the injustices that come to us in life, damns us as effectively as a man made dam of earth and concrete stops water. When we sincerely ask Him, our Savior (…from such a dilema), He shows us the way and His truths really do set us free. (John 8:32) kdm
