‘Even genius is but a fine observation strengthened by fixity of purpose. Every (person) who observes vigilantly and resolves steadfastly grows unconsciously.’ ~Edward G. Bulwer-Lytton

That growth is multiplied with a habit of seeking the principles and teachings of Jesus Christ and his gospel. Those doing so are ‘fine tuning’ themselves (by the Spirit) with ‘fixed purpose’ and grow unconsciously. They vigilantly observe and choose gospel methods having learned to discern the real voice of the Spirit from the adversary’s counterfeits (sometimes by that difficult lesson learned!). They will often admit that any genius ascribed to them, religious or secular, is from their constant living right and seeking the Lord.

Eternal truths are consistently distilled upon their souls through seeking, learning, becoming guided by their Master, Jesus Christ. They would be the first to say that their genius comes not from their intellect alone, but from the Spirit directing their development beyond their normal abilities. Their vigilant observing and steadfast unconscious growth result from that fixed purpose. Some may call it genius when, in truth, it is the Lord’s light upon the faithful. kdm
