This is at the core of true religious thought embraced by all believers in a higher benevolent power. In making life less difficult for others we forget our own struggles resulting in a cleansing of our own soul. Our Lord showed us the way in all things to do this, and rich blessings are ahead when we embrace His example. Failing to do so… ‘we have no promise’ (D&C 82:10).
D&C 58:27 Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;
28 For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward (see D&C 58: 26-29).
