“… when we follow the Savior of the world, the Son of God, we flourish and become glorious despite the many terrible circumstances that surround us. He truly is our light and life…. Our ability to stand firm and true and follow the Savior despite the vicissitudes of life is greatly strengthened by righteous families and Christ-centered unity in our wards and branches (church community).” ~Elder Quentin L. Cook Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Ensign May 2015 p.63
When we, as individuals and families, have trouble with our relationship to God, we really need not look far to find the problem. Do we live in such a way that we know we have His approval? Do we strive to keep His commandments, and teach our family to do the same? (He knows we’ll make mistakes. Through prayer and repentance, we draw closer to Him again.) Is our life, our family life, an outward example of that inward commitment to honor He who bought us with his blood? He simply asks us to embrace His example and live a clean, righteous life. Then he blesses us for doing so! Truly, His yoke is easy and his burden is light because He pulls with us, not against us (see Matthew 11:28-30 ). The other (Satan’s) way is SO hard because he always pulls against us. kdm
