Regarding the ‘music of the gospel’ that creates ‘delicious’ harmony and upward change towards Christ…
“It won’t come all at once. As every accomplished musician knows, it takes diligent practice to perform beautiful music. If early efforts at making music seem dissonant and discordant, remember dissonance cannot be corrected by criticism. Dissonance in the home is like darkness in a room. It does little good to scold the darkness. We must displace darkness by introducing light.” Elder Wilford W. Anderson of the Seventy, Ensign May 2015, p.55
Anything worthwhile takes time, patience, and humble perseverance. We should not be judging our self or others now, by the end of the journey. Instead, we learn and show others how to invite in that ‘sweet gospel harmony’. We might consider too that murmuring under any circumstance has no place in our journey to become more like our Savior. As Lehi said to his son Nephi “thou shalt be favored because thou hast not murmured”, and Nephi’s ‘spiritual music’ in response “I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded” and… “he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.” (see 1 Nephi 3: 6-7) These and other true principles create a harmony with Christ and His purposes for us.
