The way Emerson expressed this, seems to shut out self centered motives, the human tendency that ‘life is all about me’. This has an appeal to me because I reflect upon my own past. Could I have created damage, not being there for others even when the need was obvious? And what of ‘collateral effects’, those, their friends and loved ones, who simply refuse Christ, because my example was less than it could have been? There’s a trickle down effect of the good they (and their descendants / associates) could have done for His cause, that may never happened. I have to be careful with such thoughts, since dwelling on them too much plays into the adversary’s plan for me to give up. There is much good I can do for the Lord’s purposes and… His Atonement covers all repented sins. kdm
Becky says I used this theme last week (likely more so than that). I wonder… as with Elder Eyring’s quote, adapted to me and included in the Home page entry of this blog, when theme’s seem repetitive to me, that should rivet my attention!
