From a Year of Powerful Prayer, an entry by Linda Eyre:
I heard a speech once by Mrs. Norman Vincent Peal about their family members who had specific worries at certain times of the day. So we followed suit, and some mornings we all agree to pray for Noah to do well on his math test at 9:20 or for Dad to do well on an important meeting at 1:30. It was a fun way to think and pray for each other during the day.
Initially, all those morning prayers were on our knees around the coffee table or the kitchen table, but as life got more hectic and basketball boys were leaving in the dark of morning and getting home in the dark of evening, we decided that who ever was leaving on those hectic mornings should yell “huddle” as they were standing at the door. Whoever was in earshot met at the front door and, with arms around shoulders, we offered a quick prayer of thanksgiving and protection. Sometimes it was just one child and one parent, sometimes two or three, or more joined the circle.
Today we have a group e-mail account where every family member is reached almost instantly at the touch of a button. There are often requests for prayers from one of our children in distress. We assure each other often that we are praying and sometimes fasting for them. Like those cyberspace messages that can’t be seen as they fly through space, prayers reach their destination but with even better accuracy. True, prayers are not always answered as we would wish or as soon as we would like, but we believe they are heard and answered in the Lord’s way and time.~~Linda Eyre, A Year if Powerful Prayer (Salt Lake City; Deseret Book, 2023), p.254-55
