Larry W. Tippetts writes:
“When I read a book or article of exceptional value to me, I take the time to summarize in writing those ideas or concepts that I most want to retain and use in my life. Sometimes I simply write the exact quote I desire to remember. Other times I write it in my own words, which is even more valuable to me because when I reduce an idea or concept to my own words, I have to clearly understand what I have read. Writing our own words increases the likelihood that we have grasped the principle or idea we want to remember. Explaining an idea in our own words increases the likelihood that we will retain and use the principle later. It does little good to read a helpful book or article and then forget it within hours of days.” (June 5, 1999) ~ Larry W. Tippetts, ~Receiving Personal Revelation (American Fork, Utah, 2017) p.60
