From ‘yesteryear’ Elder Boyd K. Packer, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, since deceased wrote of the Church and prophetic guidance for the family:

“How could the Brethren possible have known that within half a lifetime social and and cultural standards would drift so low and so rapidly and then slip into a free fall? How could they have possibly known that across the world leaders in business, industry, government, education, law enforcement, and courts would awaken to a sense that the future of civilization depends on stable families and that those leaders would cast about for answers, not able to recognize them when they were able to find them?

But the brethren did know. I watched, in a small way participated as the whole curriculum of the Church was restructured with the family as the anchor. (98–06)

We have watched the standards of morality sink ever lower until now they are in a free fall. At the same time we have seen an outpouring of inspired guidance for parents and for families.

The whole of the curriculum and all the activities of the Church have been restructured and correlated with the home:” ~Elder Boyd K. Packer of the Quorum of the Twelve (deceased), Mine Errand From the Lord (Salt Lake City, Deseret Book, 2008), 276-77

(. . . . Elder Packer continued with more examples. . . on how adjustments in succeeding years provide ‘a living pattern’ of sustained upward change embracing Heavenly Father’s purposes as the world continues in an opposite direction. Today, the Lord’s hand continues to guide the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve, with our Prophet Russell M. Nelson leading the way.)
