From Neal A. Maxwell. . . .
Some are stubborn and rebel against all authority. Status-conscious, we may worry about whether Moses or Nephi is ruling over us (Numbers 16:2; 2 Nephi 5:3). This resistance to moral authority—“ye take too much upon you”—by some is often extended to God, though He generously lends us all breath from moment to moment (Numbers 16:3; Mosiah 2:21). Yes, respiratory capacity is provided by God, even for rebels, who then use it without gratitude. Ironically, these individuals celebrate their independency without realizing how very dependent they actually are from moment to moment. ~Neal A. Maxwell, Whom the Lord Loveth (Salt Lake City: Deseret Book, 2003), 101
