Continued from yesterdays post. . . * Identity assured:

¨We already took our first step toward recovering, protecting and fulfilling our eternal identity in the premortal world when we repented and exercised faith in the Atonement of Christ, casting our lot with Him and our Heavenly Father. In the book of Revelation we learn that we valiantly overcame Satan in the first estate “by the blood of the Lamb [the atonement], and by the word of [our] testimony; and [we] loved not [our] lives unto death” (Revelation 12:11). We demonstrated by our choices and actions there that we believed that Christ actually could and would carry out the Atonement and that it had the power to redeem, sanctify, and glorify us. Indeed, it had the power even before its earthly completion—our premortal sins and mistakes there were wiped away as if they had never happened. We now just have to prove that we continue to believe that the Atonement was accomplished and continues to have that same power. It’s that simple.

We are not here to be perfect, though that is our ultimate goal through the Resurrection. But even that is only made possible through the Atonement of Christ. Rather we show our faith and testimony here on earth just as we did in the life before—by our desires, thoughts and actions; by repenting; by submitting our hearts and lives to Christ; by holding nothing back—loving not our lives unto death.”When we are saved and exalted, we will readily recognize and reverently confess that it is through the “merits of him who is mighty to save” (2 Nephi 31:19) and not through any merit of our own in any way, shape, or form. Our works are simply tokens that demonstrate our gratitude and love for the Savior, our desires to receive His long-promised blessings, and our faith that His Atonement can restore our eternal identity by making us one with God again.¨~Barbara D.
