An interesting principle came to focus again (having come from two different sources over a short time); Controlling my mind to live daily life in the here and now. This life is ‘the only time and space’ over which I have real control and can more readily follow my Savior’s influence, especially when I correctly apply the principle of repentance. It means I live as an Apostle J. Golden Kimball said over a century ago, “I’m not going to hell, I repent too fast!” That’s living in the moment, the here and now… I can say a little prayer in any setting and, with eyes open, purge my mind of less debilitating sin, evil and blunders.
The past has ‘lots of stuff’ I would change in retrospect, things though repented of, the adversary will say I can never really forgave myself, making Christ’s atonement of no effect in my life. Such is “a whole waste of worry”… preoccupation with past (already repented) errors is spiritually destructive, becomes ‘dark space’, AND a denial of our Savior’s power to heal.
Living in the moment also means not stressing over the future. Yes I plan and prepare for things in the distance; education, career, family priorities. Because such plans are made, living in the moment means that when choices come, my decisions will more easily favor those goals. The habit of so living (in Christ) means my decisions default constantly towards long term upward, even eternal goals. k
