We just finished six hours over two days listening to instruction and counsel from those authorized by the Lord himself to give such counsel. A theme running through the talks given by local leaders and others visiting emphasized that the wickedness of the world around us is escalating at an alarming rate. One leader said, “We will not be able to survive what is coming unless we are earnest in strengthening our faith.”
In order not to be swept up in the tide that wickedness creates, we must (this is not simply a good idea but) we must proactively, increase the level of our faith through those things we do daily. We will not be able to win against that evil tide living on ‘borrowed light’ or by continuing patterns unfriendly to Christ and the Spirit. Our faith must increase by following a path of making deliberate choices, habits and disciplines friendly to all Christ taught and is teaching through His living oracles. I would suggest that those who make it a habit of absence from or treat lightly such counsel given (as though Christ himself were speaking) will not have the spiritual depth or strength in place when they need it most.
For those members (or not) of the LDS faith, this simply means, as spoken in these conference sessions, we can increase our level of faith and commitment to the Lord by a resolve to keep the Sabbath day holy, attend our meetings and find ways to bless others’ lives on the Sabbath and throughout the week. We can become immersed in scriptures and keep notes of what we learn there and when we pray. kdm
