I read, years ago, the world’s version in contrast of this theme on a bumper sticker: “Whoever has the most toys at the end of this life wins!” I find it comical to think of someone arriving at the ‘pearly gates’ with his fancy toys, then expecting to get in, while neglecting the ‘weightier matters’… to develop line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little… (see Isaiah 28:10) the caring qualities of our Savior. We become chained by our worldly possessions when we allow ourselves to be directed by the expectations of our friends, neighbors, peers. As we take a daily approach in line with our Savior’s plan, we find greater discipline, peace and freedom to do it all His way. After all, He IS the ONLY way! kdm
